The South Caucasus region is firmly included in the EU’s Eastern Partnership. The relations between NATO/EU and the three Caucasian Republics Georgia, Armenia
and Azerbaijan could improve and grow – beyond energy issues. The West supports the negotiations about the opening of the border between Turkey and Armenia, works for a peaceful solution for the “frozen conflicts” in Nagorno-Karabakh and hopes to de-escalate the Russian-Georgian conflict over Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Economic cooperation could become a tool for normalising relations in the region.
